new sexual partner since their last exam or STDs screen or are not
in a monogamous sexual relationship. If you believe you may have a sexually transmitted infection, please contact our office to schedule

HPV (Human Papilloma Virus)
HPV (human papilloma virus) has become the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI), particularly among young adults. For young women, ages 15-26, we offer the HPV vaccination to protect against the virus that may cause cervical cancer. The vaccine is given in three doses over a 6-month period.
Perimenopause and Menopause
The years leading up to menopause are called perimenopause. This phase can last for up to 10 years. Menopause is defined as the absence of menstrual periods for 1 year. The average age is 51, but the normal range is 45 to 55 years. Changes begin when the ovaries start making less estrogen. This is generally a gradual change over several years, but if you have your ovaries surgically removed this may trigger severe symptoms. That is why women who have their ovaries removed choose to take hormones. However, for women who have a hysterectomy but keep their ovaries, their periods end but they do not immediately experience menopause. They go through menopause at the normal age. Changing periods, hot flashes, sleep problems, night sweats, irregular bleeding, vaginal dryness, and mood swings are some of the symptoms of menopause. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please make an appointment to discuss what we can do to help make your symptoms more bearable.
